New Applications of Formal Concept Analysis: A Need for Original Pattern Domains
نویسنده
چکیده
We survey the results obtained by our research group (joint work with Jérémy Besson and Löıc Cerf, Kim-Ngan T. Nguyen, Marc Plantevit, and Céline Robardet) concerning the design of pattern domains to support knowledge discovery and information retrieval in arbitrary n-ary relations. Our contribution is related to Formal Concept Analysis and its recent developments in direction of, for instance, Triadic Concept Analysis. We focus on a real data mining perspective. It means that we need for both the design of scalable constraint-based mining algorithms and fault-tolerant approaches to support the discovery of relevant patterns from noisy data.

FCAIR 2012 – Formal Concept Analysis Meets
The application of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) to Information Retrieval (IR) is twenty-five years old. Over this period, a number of papers have explored the potentials of FCA for various information finding tasks while several system prototypes have been made available for experimentation and testing. In this talk we survey what has been achieved so far, discussing lessons and implications f...

Reducing the Size of Concept Lattices: The JBOS Approach
Formal concept analysis (FCA) is used nowadays in a large number of applications in several different areas. Nevertheless, in some applications the size of a concept lattice may be prohibitively large, thus creating a need for new approaches and algorithms to reduce concept lattices to a manageable size. This paper presents a new method for reducing a concept lattice’s complexity and introduces...
متن کاملDNA Barcoding: a new tool with wide array of applications
DNA barcoding is a new term introduced in to scientific literatures by Hebert and coworkers almost a decade ago. The concept of barcoding alone is well-known to the public: a series of black bars printed on many commercial products (Universal Product Code), which are used to distinguish different products. Advances made in molecular biology and molecular techniques late 20th century e.g. sequen...
متن کاملRevisiting Pattern Structure Projections
Formal concept analysis (FCA) is a well-founded method for data analysis and has many applications in data mining. Pattern structures is an extension of FCA for dealing with complex data such as sequences or graphs. However the computational complexity of computing with pattern structures is high and projections of pattern structures were introduced for simplifying computation. In this paper we...
